Mr. Emmanuel Okumi Andoh was born in 1957. He joined Takoradi Polytechnic in 1987, after his teaching practice with the Polytechnic in 1984/85 academic year. He was the immediate past Dean of School of Engineering and for three consecutive times, the Head of Furniture Design and Production Department which he personally helped to establish in 1997. By dint of hard work, he rose to the current position of Vice Rector in August, 2013.
Mr. Emmanuel Okumi Andoh is a specialist in Wood Science and Technology, having researched into the utilization of coconut stem for structural works and artifacts. He again researched into the industrial use of agricultural residue for the production of particle boards.
Mr. Okumi Andoh in 1976 trained at Takoradi Polytechnic and obtained City and Guilds Advanced Certificate in Carpentry and Joinery, and also Construction Technician certificate after completing Kikam Technical Institute in 1975.
He trained in Japan as a Wood Article Engineer, and studied in Kumasi Polytechnic for the HND in Furniture Design and Technology. He is currently a pioneer PhD candidate in Wood Science and Technology at the University of Education, Winneba (Kumasi Campus) after obtaining his first degree in Vocational Technical Education and MPhil in Wood Science and Technology all from the same University.
Mr. Emmanuel Okumi Andoh serves on several committees in the Polytechnic. He is also on the Governing Boards of Abura Vocational Institute and Baidoo Bonsoe Senior High Technical School.
His expertise goes well beyond the classroom and the Polytechnic; as he is currently the Honourable Presiding Member for the Ahanta West District Assembly where he chairs several committees and sessions.
The jovial and hardworking Okumi Andoh enjoys reading and swimming during leisure. He is married with five children; two girls and three boys.
