Overview

The School of Business Studies has four (4) departments; namely, Accountancy, Marketing, Purchasing & Supply and Secretaryship & Management Studies. All the four (4) departments offer programmes leading to the award of Higher National Diploma in Business Studies. There are two (2) Bachelor’s degree programmes in Procurement Management and Accounting with Computing (in collaboration with Kumasi Polytechnic).The School currently has a total student population of three thousand six hundred and one (3,601) with staff population of ninety-two (92) comprising both teaching and non-teaching.

Mission

The mission of the School of Business Studies is to offer full-time tertiary programmes relevant to commerce and industry in order to supply middle-level manpower for the economic development of Western Region and Ghana as a whole.

Vision

The vision of the School of Business Studies is to become a centre of excellence in teaching and research in commerce and industry in Ghana and abroad.

Goal

The goal of the School of Business Studies is to produce competent graduates who will effectively and efficiently manage the human, financial and material resources for the production of goods and services in Ghana. 

Objectives

To attain the vision above, the following objectives are pursued;

1. To offer high quality carrier-oriented training to middle-level manpower in commerce and industry.

2. To equip students with contemporary skills and techniques in a bid to make them functional in commerce and industry.

3. To equip students with the requisite entrepreneurial skills necessary for industrial development.

4.To promote Ghana’s industrialization through relevant industrial research and consultancy in all aspects of business development.
